Sometimes experiencing a glimmer of the world in a different way makes all the difference in the world.

It is natural for children to think that the world operates just how they see it… that everyone lives just like them. Adults… well, we’re good at doing this, too – only seeing what is immediately around us. However, understanding how others live both near and far… seeing that God works in all languages and cultures and economic statuses… might help us to live more fully and more graciously.

The hope is that families will gain a broader understanding of the worldwide distribution of wealth and resources and the challenges that face different areas - as well as the beauties of different areas. Furthermore, we hope that families will see ways that God is working around the world and how we might be a part of that work.

The Raising Micah Global Village Experience is designed for families of all ages. The experience includes time in “portable village units.” The structures include a bamboo hut, a plywood home, a tent, and cardboard boxes. Each structure represents a different area, such as Sudan, Bolivia, Cambodia, and inner-city U.S. homeless. When families (or groups of families) go to their structures, they will receive various amounts of food – some very, very little – to help gain understanding of food resources; they will also have to “hike” for a water to get an understanding of water resources. We hope you are willing to jump into the experience and see through a new lens.

Outline of a Four-Hour Adventure

9:00 AM Registration and Global Activity Centers that include viewing a resource library, a toy center with toys made from around the world, a craft area, and multi-media area with video clips of children from around the world and a computer game called “Build a Better World”

• 9:30 AM Introduction to one another and the experience

• 9:45 AM Prayer & Praise

• 10:00 AM Village Placement and Food Distribution

• 10:30 AM Learning, Playing, & Eating at the Village Structures

• 12:30 PM Closing Thoughts & Worship

We can adjust the schedule according to your time constraints and needs.
